The Birth of Satoshi House – Part III

The Birth of Satoshi House
In the previous articles, I went through how I got into Bitcoin and how the idea for Satoshi House was born. In the last article, I’ll talk about our vision and goals. This story started on a paradise island of Koh Phangan in the Gulf of Thailand and ended up 1000 miles north in The Golden Triangle.

I am a true believer of Bitcoin, Open Source, and Decentralization. I believe Bitcoin will change banking and governance as we know it. I think it’s the same for Open Source software and hardware. Governments, banks, and companies who don’t adapt to this will be left in the stone age. Smart companies will build their products and services around Open Source projects. We are big supporters of what Open Source Ecology is doing.

You should be in control of your money, without any interference from any bank or government.

Software should be free for all to use and to review the code and improve on the code.

Drawings for hardware should be free to improve the product and also be able to verify that the right components are put together.

Satoshi House is a guesthouse and a co-working space for Open Source projects, hacktivists and digital nomads. You can come here to “budil” and learn. Or have all day and night discussions of how we can make the world a better place. Our plan is to host two yearly hacker camps. Were we will invite hackers to hackathons and have presentations from locals companies, industry leaders and hackers. Our first hacker camp will be 8 to 10 November 2019, just before Loy Krathong festival.

This is where we want to make an impact to educate the importance of Open Source development. Our goal is to have developers, engineers, and people with great ideas to come here and work on interesting and disruptive projects. It’s very important that people can meet face to face and have some crazy brainstorming sessions, work together, and build their network with the right people. We think it’s important to share the knowledge and get a bigger exposure in media and educate companies around this. We are currently working with a media company to bring Satoshi House to the masses.

Our vision is that we see more of this kind of “hacker houses” popping up around the world and we will assist in any way we can. It would be amazing to find a “hacker house” in every small community around the world. And have all of them sharing information with each other. We aks the Open Source community to join in our quest and make this come true. Anybody can join whether you are experienced or just starting out. We are also looking to connect with companies that support what we are doing, there are possibilities to send your developers here to work on projects.

We had visits from some very interesting projects at Satoshi House:

Virtuality Co., Ltd (Virtual Reality)

Lightning Network Chiang Mai (Lighting Network devs)

Kosmos (Open-source group communication for the 21st century)

Hacker Beach ( Hacker Beach is a month-long, spontaneous, self-organized gathering of hackers and like-minded people on a tropical island (or coast).
It happens every year in January.)
