The Bitcoin Carnivore Diet
Bitcoin, Cryptocurrency and Blockchain is a world full of forward thinkers. People who are very open to new ideas, question what are often brain washed beliefs we have all been feed. No pun intended. It is with equal shock and happiness that I recently discovered a sub culture within a subculture, the Bitcoin carnivory culture.
I grew up in a society where every kid was raised on a bland breakfast of Weetbix and milk. It was nearly edible if you covered the horrible things in sugar. I had long suspected that wheat is not my friend and the acid re-flux that plagues me after eating it clearly shows it is the case. My body seems to work best on meat and vegetables. I love steak and have joked for years that I could just live on it alone. Now this was really just a joke as I have always thought that doing such a thing would be incredibly unhealthy and get kind of dull after a while.
Is a meat only diet good for you? What evidence is there?
So what evidence is there for a meat only diet being a healthy option? Not much, is the answer. Before my Vegan and Frutarian friends roar with glee I have to say the reason for this, is that not many people have decided to go on a full carnivore diet. We therefor have little data to make informed judgement about this diet on. People of note that are carnivores are Jorden Peterson and his daughter. The later is becoming a media star for this fact, obviously getting the airtime for being the daughter of a man who seems to be getting more and more popular by the day for his anti political correctness stance on many things. She has had a double hip replacement caused by severe arthritis and suffered crippling depression. She says the carnivore diet has cured both her depression and arthritis. Her famous father also plagued by these things is adamant the carnivore diet has done the same for him.
In our Bitcoin community Saifedean Ammous seems to have been the one to kick it off and has quickly gained a number of followers with the likes of Jimmy Song and Tones Vayes joining him and actually starting a carnivore club. They meet in restaurants eat meat and talk Bitcoin with what appears to be a large following of like minded people. Tone Vays is someone I follow, but watching him eat raw meat while discussing Bitcoin was not one of his better videos.
Saifedean, the author of the Bitcoin Standard, an excellent book, has been a carnivore for three years. He looks very healthy and is a super smart guy so maybe this steak eating thing might be worth a go. He just eats steak and drink water not something I could every do. There will be red wine included in my diet of prime rib.
My Thoughts on the Carnivore Diet
I know for a fact I perform better on a low carb diet. I know for a fact my reflux goes away I have more energy and feel much better on a high protein diet. Hardcore carnivores see fruit and vegetables as actually poisoning us. Not sure I agree with that but the kids in this video might suggest further inquiry.
So what to do? I guess I try this out and see how I feel. Steak it is for the next week and we take it from there. I really doubt this diet but there is only one way to find out if it works. I will keep you updated. I will also then try out a Vegan diet and lastly a frutarian diet. Yes there is such a thing and one of our cameramen at Hardforking has a frutarian restaurant. He is super healthy so maybe monkeys have got it right, not calling you a Monkey mate.
I suspect that many of these diets work because you are conscious of what you are putting in your body and therefor probably cut down on unhealthy habits and behaviors as part of the deal. I also suspect that the calories consumed when on any food plan or diet would be lower than a eat anything anytime approach to diet. I believe fasting or calorie restriction is what is really behind the success of much of the benefits from the carnivore diet and as such will factor this in to my reporting on this. It would be great to try a fast at some point maybe that can be week four.
Will keep you posted people I am off to find a steak! Let me know what you think of the Carnivore Diet in the comment box below.
